Hitachi company created its first HDD with 1TB volume using five plates with 200GB volume . Competitors increased their writing density , and they could propose tera-byte HDD with three magnetic plate . Yesterday on hitachi site appeared a press release, which announces about the deliveries of hard drives series deskstar 7K1000.B, based on magnetic plate with 375 Gb volume. This series include a new high end disk HDT721010SLA360, whose volume was equal to 1 Tb. Hitachi was able not only to increase the writing density , but also to reduce the energy consumption level . A similar efficiency was archived due to the 5000 rp/min speed . In the series deskstar 7K1000.B are provided seven HDD models with capacity from 160 Gb to 1 Tb. The models with 160GB volume and 250 Gb are equipped with 8 mb buffer, models with 320 Gb volume are equipped with 16 mb buffer. The 32 mb buffer are calculated for not less than 1,2 mln hours and five-year guarantee instead of usual three year, such dik are approximately $40 more expensive : deskstar E7K1000 - it consists of three models with 500 Gb, 750 Gb and 1 Tb volume. As hard drives option Hitachi propose the coding data BDE technology, which uses AES algorithm . Tera-byte hard drives series deskstar 7K1000.B will appear in this month for approximately $240.
