Video card producers attempt to use the computational resources of their creations for accelerating video, and NVIDIA already attained in this field some successes. This tendency does not prevent some producers from releasing the specialized card for accelerating video at the hardware level.
As example can serve the card winFast pxVC1100, which leadtek company promises to demonstrate on exhibition CEATEC JAPAN 2008 (toshiba section) at the end of September. Participation of toshiba is explained simply : this card is based on spursEngine chip , which is the junior relative to the multicore processor cell. The latter, for example, can be revealed in the gaming consoles sony playStation 3.

Besides the chip spursEngine SE1000 with four core, the card include two memory microcircuits XDR with 64 mb volume each. With the central processor the device interacts through the interface PCI express x1. This card is called to accelerate video : MPEG-2 and MPEG 4- AVC/h.264 at the hardware level.

The success of this card will depend on the support from the side of applications developers . This chip will be installed in some notebook toshiba qosmio. The card leadtek winFast pxVC1100 will be presented in the beginning of October.
