TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress is one of the few software which use CUDA for Video decoding/encoding acceleration , According to the producer , CUDA will allow NVIDIA video card with CUDA 2.0 to encode video by 400% faster than a simple CPU .

TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress is now extended with some MSI video card (GTX 260) in a trial version for 30 days. Here is the software main screen .

Just before opening the program this software notify user about CUDA (disabled by default) , so user have to enable it manually .

Here is the section in the Software where we can find different CUDA options , we checked all of them and clicked optimized CUDA performance

Well before passing directly to the results let u say a few words about the software limitation . First this software do not support G80 (8800ultra/GTX/GTS) , and work only with MPEG files . This software require almost the latest NVIDIA driver (178.14 or above : Currently the latest version is 178.24 ) . Using the version 178.14 we were unable to switch on CUDA mode , but with the latest NVIDIA driver 178.24 all went fine and we expected some amazing result .... But .....
We used :
Processor : E8500 , @ 3.6 GHz
Memory :1080 MHz 5-5-5-15
Video : Geforce 8800 GT (G92)@ 720/1800/2000 (core/shader/memory) : Note we also tried a 9600 GT G94 .
HDD : 2 X WD 100000 Rpm , Raid 0
Using only one Filter we obtained the following result :

Using only all Filters (8) we obtained the following result :

balanced load between the CPU and GPU 10.5(CPU) and 89.5(GPU)

only CPU
Results are pretty clear enabling CUDA in TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress slow down the encoding process with or without filters . So be aware before dropping 100$ for this software expecting impressive performance , We hope that those performance issues will be fixed in the next software version .
