Associate procured complete set from the engineering model of processor Core 2 Extreme QX6700 (2.66 GHz) new unknown stepping and motherboard Intel D975XBX2, which for long time was considered the official mobo of processors on core Kentsfield. Using the regular stock air cooler this four core processor was able to clock to the frequency of 3.7 GHz!
Although we had already published close result result ,but for stick air cooling this is a world record. Hiding itself under value CPUID 06F7h this stepping was never earlier observed - not only on processors Kentsfield, but also on processors Core 2 duo. Value CPUID for stepping B1 is equal 06F5h, for stepping B2 - 06F6h. Judging by everything, today we are meeting the new stepping B3, to which over time must passe the dual core processors Core 2 duo.
Motherboard used was Intel D975XBX2 possible . in screen shot their report is not so rich, but the description of this motherboards new functions was sufficiently detailed in our previous news. According to some data, this board can work also with 1333 MHz bus, support to which at the official Intel level will be represented only in the second quarter of 2007. As a whole, many changes in the motherboard characteristics Intel D975XBX2 are directed toward the expansion of overclocker possibilities. For example, memory voltage is now possible to be increased to 2.8 v with 0.04 v step .
The future bios versions for this motherboard can get support for overclocker memory EPP. As it is known, this initiative was advanced by NVIDIA company , and in its time it was subjected to criticism from the side of committee JEDEC, to opinion of which ATI has a certain influence. Now, learning about the intel intentions to support EPP, possible that company will make this desire Related Products :
