On this week AMD company published the technical characteristics of phenom II processors Socket AM3.
As it was explained, phenom II stepping C2 processors do not guarantee a stable work with DDR 3-1333 memory, if the memory is installed in both slots ( under each memory channels ) . If all four slots are populated then the DDR 3-1333 is transferred in the regime DDR 3-1066. Similar problems does not appear, if in each memory channel user installs only one DDR 3-1333 module.
Actually, the memory controller of phenom II processors can work with DDR 3-1600 memory, the corresponding multiplier is provided, but the memory capacity in this case is reduced. This limitation is present in all phenom processors first generation . Moreover, phenom II processors cannot work also with four modules DDR 2-1066. However, in case of DDR 3-1333 it can work with four modules , but stability is not guaranteed. In order to correct this problem AMD will release a new phenom II processor stepping .
