Today hitachi company demonstrated the second generation compact hard disks ultrastar. Those devices are made on the 2,5- inches format. The data exchange is made on the SAS interface (Serial attached SCSI), the data transmission speed in this case reaches 3 Gbit/s. Two models in the new series are accessible at the given moment: C10K147, whose volume is 147 Gb, and the 300 Gb version, C10K300. Both HDD are 10k (RPM).
Hitachi also used the technology called Fluid dynamic bearing. Those HDD consume only 3,4 W of energy in the idle time regime and 6,1 W in the active use regime . Ultrastar devices will become an outstanding selection for creating high performance systems. | ||
