Asus company recently presented two video cards, characterized by multilayer polymeric capacitors : GeForce GTX 285 and Radeon HD 4890. Furthermore, both solutions are equipped with the electromagnetic screen (EMI shield), high-quality power chokes, power transistors with low channel resistance in the open state (low RDS (on)) and solid-state capacitors in addition to multilayer polymeric. The latter, on Asus assertion , allow to ensure a stable power, especially with sharp increase in the current strength in the chain. Of course the producer notes the increased video card overclocking potential due to the multilayer polymeric capacitors, which are represented as the technology super ML caps. It is worthwhile to note that this technology is not new and it is already available in motherboards series republic of gamers last generation.
The cooling system is this case has a standard design. The producer declares, that the use of multilayer polymeric capacitors allowed to decrease the power noise up to 15%, from 246 mv to 210 mV, and the overclocking potential grew from 670/1550/2700 MHZ to 720/1656/2920 MHz for the core, shader and memories respectively. Furthermore, the power-supply system optimization allowed to reduce the graphic processor temperature and video memory by 15 and 8 degree Celsius respectively.
The second card, Radeon HD 4890, also uses a new asus design . The use of multilayer polymeric capacitors on this video card allows, on Asus assertion , to raise the overclocking potential from 900/4000 MHz to 1000/4800 MHz for the core and memories respectively, and the power noise is reduced by 20% from 143 mv to 114 mV. The cooling system reduce the graphic processor temperature by 10 degree Celsius in comparison with reference. Related Products :
