The first mention of NVIDIA Volta computing accelerators was made in the context of their use in the Summit supercomputer, based on IBM Power9 processors. This system should be built by the end of next year, and it will be put into operation in early 2019.
Apparently, these processors will be the first products supporting the PCI Express 4.0 interface, and they will be presented in the second half of this year. The IBM Power9 processor is able to support 48 lines of PCI Express 4.0 with a capacity of 192 GB / s, as well as 48 lines of 25G Link with a capacity of 300 GB / s. Support for NVLink 2.0 allows IBM processors to interact effectively with NVIDIA Volta graphics processors. Related Products :
