It should be noted that the characteristics of this engineering model confused not only us, but also people, which have precise idea about processors Conroe- L. On the pages of Chinese forum appeared the photographs and screen shot of the new engineering model Conroe- L.
Owner did not want it drew too much Intel attention :-), therefore he painted over in the photograph some identification marks of this processor. In the following photographs we compared the core Conroe- L (photo in the left) with the processors Allendale with two core and 2 mb cache in the second level (photo in the right).
As you see, they are not similar . However, on these photographs there is no final conclusions that can be drawn. Much more interesting fact is the compatability of the engineering model Conroe- L with the motherboard Asus P5B Deluxe (P965) - in this case was used bios version 0804. If we check the Asus site, the references about the support of processors Conroe- L in this bios version possible to be found in the annoucement.dated on 30 October, 2006.
It is interesting that this processor has 512 KB of cache in the second level with the maximum multiplier 12x, which ensures the total frequency of 2.4 GHz using the 800 MHz system bus. Most likely, such processors series with this combination of characteristics will not be released. It follows to consider that processors Celeron 4xx on core Conroe- L will support the 533 MHz bus, although the volume of cache in this case is completely being suitable - 512 KB.
at the frequency of 2.4 GHz this processor done the test Super PI 1M in 32.657 seconds. we should consider that the volume of cache in the second level in this case has insignificant influence on the result.
Although at overclocking our Chinese freind used the cooler Tuniq Tower 120, the overclocking of this processor for some reason was limited to the frequency of 3.2 GHz. Vcore was increased from 1.27 to 1.42 V. Super PI 1M result was improved to 27.234 seconds.
On other pages of this forum can be found another screen shot with tests results , but conclusions about the qualities of processors Celeron 4xx can not be made early. First , they will be released only in the third quarter of 2007. Furthermore, they will possesse other characteristics. Related Products :
