The specialists Of advanced micro devices and Hewlett-Packard developed two expansions for PCI express 3.0 (PCIe) specification, which will allow to release cheaper microcircuits, capable of supporting several protocols and to decrease the overhead expenses of central processor.
Developers hope that their proposals will be taken in account in the specification Of pCIe 3.0, which must be published at the beginning of next year. The mentioned expansions do not depend each on other and are oriented for application in graphic and built in systems, or in high-speed systems . The first expansion - multiplexing protocols, which will allow to dynamically switch between seven different protocols in addition to pCIe, using a general collection of microcircuits conclusions , buffers and paths on the card.
For example, it would be possible to make one solution, which connects processors and accelerators with the aid of pCIe interfaces, Quick path interconnects or Hyper Transport. The second expansion, which was called name light information, would allow coprocessors or outlying microcircuits to be associate with each other by the memory system, using pCIe transactions , without the interruptions of central processor. For example, ethernet switchboard could execute coding or decoding commands for separate data, without using the central processor. Expansions are designed for the application in pCIe versions, which work at frequencies 2,5, 5 and 8 GHz. Related Products :
