More and more sources express that processor Athlon 64 X2 3600 + Socket AM2 with 2 ghz and 256 KB cache will be entered into the retail market in the fourth quarter this year. Colleagues from American site DailyTech have already received a sample of this processor. here is CPU-Z screenshot:
It is important to note, that processor Athlon 64 X2 3600 + Socket AM2 is based on stpening F2 core Windsor which is also used for models with 2 Гµ 512 KB cache and 2 Гµ 1 Mb cache. In other words, all three versions Athlon 64 X2 use the same crystal, with simply a part of cache switched-off .
The combination of 2.0 GHz frequency and 2 õ 256 KB cache at the price of ($139) should make processor Athlon 64 X2 3600 + popular among overclockers. As you know, architecture of the AMD64 is more clock depandant than cache.the more u clock the cpu the better is the performance the cache do not play big role îõ
Note that the amd x2 3600+ will come with 10X multiplayer and 2 ghz clock frequency.the 10x multiplier will play big role when u overclock the cpu
The American colleagues assume, that AMD can and other models Athlon 64 X2 with 2 Гµ 256 KB cache. considering, that the Athlon 64 X2 3600 + will leave in the fourth quarter this year at the price of $139-160, and to the end of year AMD is going to lower cost of younger model up to $100-110, it is easily possible to believe in it. For example, up to the end of year or in the beginning of the following there can be model Athlon 64 X2 3400 + or Athlon 64 X2 3200 +, 1.8 GHz working frequency and equipped 2 Гµ 256 KB cache. However, it only our assumptions, and a real situation will depend on Intel strategy on development of cheap dual core processors.
