Intel pentium 4 conroe review benchmark overclock
I have been looking for review for in new intel conroe cpu .they are still unavailble for the moment so I grouped all info in one review .
let start by cpu introducing the intel conroe microarchitecture
intel conroe microarchitecture
The Intel® Coreв„ў microarchitecture is a new foundation for Intel®
architecture-based desktop, mobile and mainstream server multi-core
processors. This state-of-the-art, multi-core optimized
microarchitecture will deliver a number of new and innovative features
that will set new standards for energy-efficient performance.
Planned for introduction starting in the third quarter of 2006, the new
Intel Core microarchitecture extends the energy-efficient philosophy
first delivered in Intel's mobile microarchitecture found in the Intel®
Pentium® M processor, and greatly enhances it with many new and
leading-edge microarchitectural innovations as well as existing
NetBurst® microarchitecture features. We expect processors based on
Intel Core microarchitecture to start shipping in the third quarter of
2006.
With
its higher performance and low power, the new Intel Core
microarchitecture will be the basis for many new solutions and form
factors.
In the home, these include higher performing,
ultra-quiet, sleek and low-power computer designs and new advances in
more sophisticated, user-friendly entertainment systems.
For IT, it will reduce the footprint and lower power and thermal
burdens in server data centers, as well as increase responsiveness,
productivity and energy efficiency across client and server platforms.
For mobile users, the Intel Core microarchitecture means greater
computer performance combined with leading battery life to enable a
variety of small form factors that enable world-class computing "on the
go."
Overall, its higher performance, greater energy efficiency, and more
responsive multitasking will enhance user experiences in all
environments.
Intel conroe Future
The
Intel Core microarchitecture will include new and innovative features
enabling these new levels of performance, performance/watt and energy
efficiency. Key features include:
Intel® Wide Dynamic Execution
Intel® Intelligent Power Capability
Intel® Advanced Smart Cache
Intel® Smart Memory Access
Intel® Advanced Digital Media Boost
IntelWide Dynamic Execution
Dynamic execution is a combination of techniques (data flow analysis,
speculative execution, out of order execution, and super scalar) that
Intel first implemented in the P6 microarchitecture used in the
Pentium® Pro processor, Pentium® II processor and Pentium® III
processors.
Now with the Intel Core microarchitecture, Intel significantly enhances
this capability with Intel®Wide Dynamic Execution. It enables delivery
of more instructions per clock cycle to improve execution time and
energy efficiency. Every execution core is 33% wider than previous
generations, allowing each core to fetch, dispatch, execute and retire
up to four full instructions simultaneously.
Intel Wide Dynamic Execution also includes a new and innovative
capability called Macro-Fusion. Macro-fusion combines certain common
x86 instructions into a single instruction for execution.
Combined, Intel Wide Dynamic Execution increases instruction execution
efficiency thus increasing performance and energy efficiency.
Intel Intelligent Power Capability
Intel® Intelligent Power Capability is a set of capabilities designed
to reduce power consumption and design requirements. This feature
manages the runtime power consumption of all the processor's execution
cores. The result is excellent energy optimization enabling the Intel
Core microarchitecture to deliver more energy-efficient performance for
desktop PCs, mobile PCs and servers.
Intel Advanced Smart Cache
The Intel® Advanced Smart Cache is a multi-core optimized cache that
significantly reduces latency to frequently used data, thus improving
performance and efficiency by increasing the probability that each
execution core of a dual-core processor can access data from a
higher-performance, more efficient cache subsystem.
Intel Smart Memory Access
Intel® Smart Memory Access improves system performance by optimizing
the use of the available data bandwidth from the memory subsystem and
hiding the latency of memory accesses.
Intel Smart Memory Access includes an important new capability called
"memory disambiguation," which increases the efficiency of out-of-order
processing by providing the execution cores with the built-in
intelligence to speculatively load data for instructions that are about
to execute before all previous store instructions are executed.
Intel Advanced Digital Media Boost
The Intel® Advanced Digital Media Boost is a feature that significantly
improves performance when executing Streaming SIMD Extension
(SSE/SSE2/SSE3) instructions.
They accelerate a broad range of applications, including video, speech
and image, photo processing, encryption, financial, engineering and
scientific applications. The Intel Advanced Digital Media Boost feature
enables these 128-bit instructions to be completely executed at a
throughput rate of one per clock cycle, effectively doubling, on a per
clock basis, the speed of execution for these instructions as compared
to previous generations.
I have been all of the internet looking up prices on this new Ground
Breaking CPU, I decided to make a thread with my own, prereleased
review. It will be based on trusted sources. So here it goes.
With the price's of the 9XX dropping dramatically in the past month,
Intel is setting the stage for the Release soon, very soon. And once the new Conroe Core comes out, the computer world will change
forever. With a new core, speeds, cache and even a new naming
convention! The new Conroe has 4 MB of cache, 4MB!!!!! And it has been reported
that the Conroe can be overclocked very well. So this helps us "El
Cheapo" overclocker's by spending less to get more. From what I have
read from various trusted sources on the Web, they can be overclocked
to as much as 50% there stock speed. And that is with just air cooling.
Here is a picture I dug up.
Note :Benchmark screen are found via xtremesystems
System used in the intel conroe review
MotherBoard: Intel 975XBX-304
Cpu :Intel Conroe 2.4Ghz
Cooling Astek Vapochill LS modded
Memory: 4GB OCZ PC8000 @ SPD 1:1
or
2GB Super Talent @ SPD 1:1
Video card:X1900XTX Crossfire
Hard drive : 4x RaptorX 150GB Raid 0 ,Gigabyte I-Ram
Cpu Vcore 1.50v
as u can see the system used in one off the best high end availble those day :-)
Intel conroe benchmark
intel conroe Super pi benchmark
as a referance we have used amd 64 venice 3000+ overclocked to 2800 MHz . super pi result was 29s .the high amd 64 benchmark coupled with fx 57 and some extreme cooling should get in the 17s-20s range.
as u can see the overclocked intel conroe is getting awesome result in super pi benchmark . super pi do alwais well in intel platform.but even the fastest amd 64 could not catch up with those value.it is clear that intel conroe do more work per clock the fastest amd .clock for clock amd was alwais faster ,intel show us that this is not alwais true. another note the inetl conroe in coupled with 4mb cache with help a lot in super pi benchmark
and here is the p4 runing over 7 ghz
the intel conroe is about clock over 40% fast than the old intel
intel conroe pi fast benchmark
The same here result are awesome .this would be expted from the intel conroe
intel conroe crystalmark benchmark
no comment :-)
intel conroe Cine benchmark benchmark
Some gaming benchmark
intel conroe 3d mark 2005 benchmark
the cpu do no play big role in the new version of 3d mark .but u should execpt 1k to 2 k boost from the intel conroe if overclocked that s high
intel conroe launch date should be excepted in this summer. You can check here Intel yonah review . amd need a solid work to catch up intel new cpu.ecpecially after review of the amd am2 witch result is about 5% faster than the current amd 64 s939
