We already know that in the current block the processors phenom II will be transferred into new stepping C3. According to the updated information, the processor phenom II X4 965 Black edition stepping C3 with the lowered to 125 W TDP level will be presented in the beginning of November. It was considered that it will appear during October this year, during the present week.
As we already reported, the basic update of C3 stepping, besides a decrease in the TDP level for the elder model - these are the faster switching between energy states and the introduction of four memory slot support : DDR 3-1333. The motherboard bios updates will be required .
Associate tested the processors phenom II X4 965 Black edition stepping C2 and C3, which allow to compare the energy consumption level, default voltage and frequency potential. At rest the core supply voltage was reduced from 1.025 v to 0.95 v. Under load, it was lowered from 1.425 v to 1.35 v.
The difference in the energy consumption level was 2 W in the quiescent conditions and about 15 W under load. The overclock of processor on new stepping was limited to the frequency 4242 MHz and to 1.55 v. The required power level in this case fell by 15 W in comparison with the processor stepping C2. The latter overclock to 4094 MHz with the core voltage 1.6 v.
The maximum memory and north bridge overclock for the processor stepping C3 was 1824 MHz and 2828 MHz respectively, against 1752 MHz and 2613 MHz for the processor stepping C2. Testing the stepping C3 processor at the default frequency 3.4 GHz revealed an insignificant delay in super PI 8M test. Obviously, AMD increased the internal delays of processor for more stable work of the memory controller with four DDR 3-1333. Related Products :
