The last statements of Intel representatives about larrabee speak that in the following year this architecture will not be used in discrete gaming graphical solutions. Does this indicate that we will rather see Larrabee as the ally of central processors on calculation acceleration ?
According to the words of main Intel marketolog on server platforms, demand for calculation acceleration by CPU + GPU is limited. The 8 core processor nehalem-EX, in the opinion of Intel representatives prepared for announcement in the first quarter 2010, is capable to manage the majority of tasks, which require intensive parallel calculations. A similar skepticism with respect to GPGPU platform does not interfere with Intel preparing Larrabee for the announcement as a platform for developing applications with intensive parallel calculations.
