While Asus and Gigabyte racing threw to inject SATA-600 and USB 3.0 support on their LGA 1156 and LGA 1366 motherboard, MSI company did not seem to follow this general tendency . However, according to associate situation changed - MSI proposes the motherboard MSI P55-GD85 on base of Intel p55 chipset, characterized by discrete controllers SATA-600 and USB 3.0. MSI decided to follow asus example , and to equip its motherboard by additional chip PLX PEX8608, which allows the SATA-600 controller Marvell 88SE9123 to transfer information at the full speed. Gigabyte pays are deprived from this chip , they use a cheaper one .  As in all similar cases, the SATA-600 controller from Marvell production ensures two ports of the corresponding interface. USB 3.0 Controller use the chip NEC D720200F1, which supports two appropriate ports. On the rear panel, they have blue plastic cores.
