Last time we talked about ION 2 platform, when we studied the special features of optimus technology.   If ION platform first generation was the combination of atom processor and integrated chipset Geforce 9400M, then in the second generation ION the graphical solution was based on GT218 chip. Netbook on base of ION 2 unites the processor atom n450/470 with the integrated graphic core, chipset Intel NM10, DDR3 memory and  discrete graphic core GT218  , the volume can reach 512 mb. Video chip is connected to the chipset on the bus PCI express 1.1, whose capacity can vary from the regime PCI express x1 (250 Mbyte(s)/s) to the regime PCI express x4 (1 Gbit/s). The graphic core GT218 within the platform ION 2 can have 8 or 16 stream processors, depending on the application sphere.   Thus, in netbook with screen not more than 10.1 inches graphic core will have 8 stream processors, but in larger netbook and nettop their quantity will be doubled.  GT218  Chips produced on 40 nm technology and support DirectX 10.1. The hardware HD video decoding @ 1080p is provided. Netbook on base of ION 2 can be equipped with  1366 X 768 screen. The limitations, superimposed by optimus   Netbook on base of ION 2 can use only the operating system Windows 7 not only in the starter version,   but also in the version home premium.
