As an answer to the announcement of opteron processors with 12 cores,  Intel company yesterday presented the multi-core processors nehalem-EX, which will be used in server segment. New models relate to xeon 7500, the quantity of core varies from four to eight pieces, the cache volume in the third level lies within the limits from 18 to 24 MB. Using four-channel organization with DDR3 memory,  these processors are capable of supporting 16 memory modules.   Hyper-Threading technology allows to double the quantity of virtual processor core. The produced on 45 nm technology monolithic crystal has an area 684 sq. mm and contains 2,3 billion transistors. In one server, it is possible to place up to 256 processors.  Intel promises superiority on the speed level over the processors series xeon 7400 in the triple size. Prices and characteristics of new processors are given in the table: Intel xeon x7560 : 2,26 GHz, cache 24 MB., number of CPU : 2/4/8,  TDP 130 W, 8 core/16 thread, $3692; Intel xeon x7550 : 2,00 GHz, 18 MB., 2/4/8, 130 W, 8/16, $2729; Intel xeon x7540 : 2,00 GHz, 18 MB., 2/4/8, 105 W, 6/12, $1980; Intel xeon e7530 : 1,86 GHz, 12 MB., 2/4, 105 W, 6/12, $1391; Intel xeon e7520 : 1,86 GHz, 18 MB., 2/4, 95 W, 4/8, $856; Intel xeon l7555 : 1,86 GHz, 24 MB., 2/4/8, 95 W, 8/16, $3157; Intel xeon l7545 : 1,86 GHz, 18 MB., 2/4/8, 95 W, 6/12, $2087; Intel xeon x7542 : 2,66 GHz, 18 MB., 2/4/8, 130 W, 6/6, $1980; Intel xeon x6550 : 2,00 GHz, 18 MB., 2, 130 W, 8/16, $2461; Intel xeon e6540 : 2,00 GHz, 18 MB., 2, 105 W, 6/12, $1712; Intel xeon e6510 : 1,73 GHz, 12 MB., 2, 105 W, 4/8, $744.   The frequency of elder processor with eight cores does not exceed 2.26 GHz, its  TDP level in this case is 130 W. Intel simultaneously presented the processors series xeon 6500: 8 core Xeon 6550 (2.0 GHz, $2461), six-core Xeon e6540 (2.0 GHz, $1712) and four core Xeon e6510 (1.73 GHz, $744). Numbers of Intel mobile processors  were supplemented by the dual core Celeron p4500 (1.86 GHz) with 2 mb cache in the second level, which is released on 32 nm technology.
