Today samsung electronics company reported about the development of first memory modules LRDIMM (load-reduced, dual-inline memory module) 32 GB volume. New modules are intended for use in the servers. Mass production will begin in the second-half of the year.
DDR3 memory microcircuits, utilized in the new modules, are prepared on 40- nm technology (indicates the application of standards from 40 to 49 nm). Chip density is 4 Gbit.
For each module Samsung LRDIMM with 32 GB volume is necessary 72 microcircuits.
Using LRDIMM modules with 32 GB volume, it is possible to install in a server up to 384 GB memory taking in account one CPU. In other words, in the configuration of two-processor server can enter up to 768 GB.
