Exactly, three years and one months after the standardization of DDR3, the united engineering council for electronic devices JEDEC officially affirmed the standard of DDR3 with low energy consumption DDR3L. The corresponding changes are introduced in the standard JESD79- E and are published on JEDEC site.
DDR3L specifications regulated the memory modules voltage to 1,35 v against 1,5 v in standard DDR3 modules. DDR3L memory consumes up to 15% less energy than DDR3, and up to 40% less than DDR2. Smaller energy consumption indicates smaller heat emission that is especially important for professional application of work storage: for example, in servers and date- centers.
