American hard disks producers attempt to participate in the specially created alliance , the Japanese corporation Toshiba in San- Diego measure reported about its own achievements in the perfection of magnetic recording technologies.
Utilized by Toshiba technology for the creation of magnetic disk is not new, this method is considered one of the candidates for the replacement of the widely utilized now technology perpendicular record, which, according to the estimations of experts, will exhaust its possibilities on the writing density of approximately one terabit to a square inch. Toshiba company for the first time created a prototype of disk with the regulated bit array, which stably read data with the density of their arrangement in two and one-half of terabit to the square inch. This almost five times higher than the writing density of contemporary magnetic plate. The size of one magnetic point, capable of storing a bit of information, does not exceed 10 nanometers.
Toshiba itself expects to begin the production of disk, which use of structured magnetic media technology not earlier than 2013. Toshiba plans also to increase the writing density of magnetic plate to five terabits per square inch.
