Mobile devices are actively using processors with ARM- architecture: first in this year they will be actively used in plane-table computers, where the low energy consumption is not only important, but also developed functional possibilities, or productivity. Intel attempts to compete with ARM- processors with the aid of economical processors versions with the x86- compatible architecture, NVIDIA counts on tegra processors with ARM- architecture and built-in graphic core, AMD thus far controls these processes, attempting to move its x86- compatible architecture bobcat.
ARM and Globalfoundries already reported about the successes in the mastery of 28 nm technical process. Associate published the slide from the presentation, which demonstrates some characteristics of future 28 nm ARM processors .
As it is explained, in the dual core configuration these processors can work at the default frequency of 2.5 GHz, and after a certain increase in the default voltage they can be overclocked to 2.8 GHz. Here we deal with some dynamic overclock technology, analogous to the already used by Intel and AMD. If we considers that produced on 40 nm technologies ARM processors can work only at the frequency of 2.0 GHz, then the progress is obvious. Of course each ARM client form the fundamental characteristics of processor, and not all series products will work at frequencies more than 2.0 GHz.
