Our permanent readers already know that the processors athlon 64 X2 on the newest stepping F3 core windsor (90 nm) began to enter in sale. Although the author of experiment did not refine the weather conditions, which contributed to the best cooling of processor, we succeeded to know that according to some data in Seoul in the past days the temperature of air was -6c degree Celsius . This, certainly, is not minus twenty, but it is completely sufficient for the overclock experiments :-) . After increasing voltage on the core with more than 1.6 v, the author of experiment can overclock processor to 3522 MHz, the temperature of processor in this case was equal to 21 degree Celsius, if we believe the indications of the used utility. At this frequency the processor passed the test super PI 1M version mod 1.5 XS in 23.625 seconds. Heavier tests were done at lower frequencies. Three and one-half of gigahertz in air - not bad result. We have only to wait for the appearance of more detailed overclock statistics for processors stepping F3 in order to compose some opinion about them. Let us note that in Japanese stores on this week appeared the cheapest existing at the present moment representatives of stepping F3 socket AM2 the dual core processor athlon 64 X2 5400+ with the frequency of 2.8 GHz and 2 X 512 KB cache.
