ASRock and MSI are first world's motherboard producer to support the Interface PCI Express 3.0. While MSI announced the appropriate motherboard officially , ASRock company started selling its product. At least in Japan this week, ASRock Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3 was seen in local stores.
This motherboard also has three slots PCI Express x16, but only two of them are ready to operate in PCI Express 3.0. This motherboard will require a processor generation Ivy Bridge LGA 1155, which supports the interface initially. Of course, the appropriate video card is also required because the existing discrete graphics solutions support only PCI Express 2.0. There is not official information if the released in 2012, AMD and NVIDIA graphics card will support PCI Express 3.0 initially.
As is the case with MSI product, only one of two slots PCI Express 3.0 x16 will work at full speed, the second will run in PCI Express x8, even if the first slot is free.
ASRock explains that the motherboard can work with PCI Express 3.0 after the use of appropriate circuit switches.
Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3 include an additional bridge PLX PEX8608, which allows multiple devices to use PCI Express x1 channels simultaneously. The motherboard supports all types of SLI and CrossFire, as well as Lucid Virtu technology and Intel Smart Response. The cost of new items on the Japanese market is $ 371. Related Products :
