Taking advantage of 24 nm process technology, Toshiba has developed a new flash memory chips such as e-MMC, intended for use in a wide range of mobile electronic devices. Transition to new production standards allow not only to increase the areal density (chips are available in versions with a capacity up to 128GB), but also increase the maximum possible performance.
E-MMC chips are a few blocks of NAND flash memory with integrated controller. With the transition to 24 nm production, Toshiba managed to combine up to 16 blocks of 64 Gbps (or 8 GB) and to achieve the maximum available capacity at present. The memory is fully consistent with the specifications of JEDEC v4.41. E-MMC chip capacity is 128 GB , dimensions 14 x 18 x 1.2 millimeters.
The memory chips 8, 16, 32 and 64 GB are available now, mass production will begin in the third quarter this year. At the same time Toshiba offers 24 nm e-MMC samples 128 GB. Related Products :
