We already reported that NVIDIA is assembled to announce cheaper version of chipset nForce 680i SLI, which is characterized lower functionality and modest overclocking potential. Yesterday associate added new details about the periods of anoncement for chipset nForce 680i LT SLI and the characteristics of motherboard on its basis. Thus, chipset will be announced on 12 March, three days prior to the beginning of exhibition ceBIT 2007. The chipset Positioning seem strange: if valuable nForce 680i SLI was intended for high end enthusiasts :-) , then reduced nForce 680i LT SLI will be oriented to gamer. Motherboard on base of chipset nForce 680i LT SLI will be as before released by one  NVIDIA partner, they will have six-layer design, and they will be deprived of the third slot PCI express x16, two ports USB 2.0 and one gigabit port. As cooling system nvidia will use move from the passive radiators on thermal tubes to the use of active cooler : as is known, Those chipset heat a lot under load . The chipset nForce 680i SLI will ensure the slots PCI express x16 + PCI express x16, one slot PCI express x16 will work in regime PCI express x8. Its place on the printed-circuit board  is empty. The Two remained slots PCI express x16 are designed sufficiently far, which will be useful for  video card cooling systems experiments  . The color of printed-circuit board will change from the black to green. The highest efficiency in chipset nForce 680i LT SLI will ensure in the synchronous overclock regime  , when the frequencies of system bus and memory system bus will coincide. So this chipset do not support memory of type DDR 2-1200 and will use  DDR 2-800. Overclocking potential in comparison with predecessor will be lower; Motherboard on the base of chipset nForce 680i LT SLI will cost approximately $199, whereas motherboard on base of nForce 680i SLI cost not less than $249. This will allow the chipset nForce 680i LT SLI to compete with chipset intel of i975X. So , the chipset nForce 680i LT SLI will not only be the only news in March  from NVIDIA - on 15 March will take place the announcement of  integrated chipsets series geForce 7050/nForce 630a.
