Manufacturers of peripheral devices are moving from the demonstration of prototype with Thunderbolt interface to the  their mass production.  LaCie Company , known for its external hard drives, offered a series of devices Little Big Disk Thunderbolt, which are equipped with this interface. This interface type provides data transfer rate up to 10 Gb / s, but in this case, the peak bandwidth is limited to the capabilities of drives.  If we consider the basic version of drive based on two hard drives sizes 2.5 , the reading speed reaches 190 MB / sec. Version based on solid state drives, which will appear in mid-October, will provide read speeds over 480 MB / sec. Aluminium case is provided with a fan, overall device dimensions are 40 x 140 x 85 mm, weight is 650 gr. The back of each drive series provides two ports Thunderbolt, user can sequentially connect up to six devices with this interface type  .  Combining thus  Little Big Disk Thunderbolt drives in disk arrays, you can increase the data rate up to 800 MB / sec. Drives in the unit can operate in RAID 0, 1 or JBOD.  The product range consists  of 1 TB from 7200 r / min ($ 399) and 2TB 5400 r/ min ($ 499).   Related Products :
