Just yesterday, AMD admitted that to improve financial performance in the third quarter it need to prevent problems with the release level of Llano processors, produced on 32 nm technology.
According to IHS iSuppli , compared with the second quarter last year, Intel has increased its market share in terms of revenue from 80.7% to 81.8%. AMD in the same period showed a decline in the share from 11.6% to 10.4%. The total revenue from all processors manufacturers of different types (this includes not only x86-based solutions) compared with the second quarter last year, up from $ 9.8 to $ 10.8 billion - as much as 10%. In physical terms, the same processor amount of shipments grew only by 3.7% (from 82.6 to 85.6 million units). This means that popularity began to use more expensive processors.
Intel managed to improve performance mainly due to increased demand for Sandy Bridge generation processors from corporate buyers.
Compared with the first quarter this year, AMD increased its market share from 10.1% to 10.4%, Intel in the same period lost 0.6% of the market in terms of revenue. Perhaps, in the third quarter AMD managed to win from Intel some part of the market, but problems with the Llano in sufficient numbers and delay of Bulldozer generation processors can have its negative impact on company performance.
