Large agencies use their analytical methodology for analyzing the dynamics of processor market, so their proposed reports may contain slightly different data. Yesterday, we examined the pattern of the CPU market according to Mercury Research , in which for the third quarter AMD allocated 18.8%, while Intel has 80.6%, and VIA is satisfied by 0.6%.
IDC company offers its view on the processor market, and incidentally tells some interesting facts. For example, in the third quarter, 73% of shipped processors for PCs are equipped with the graphics system. The growing popularity of Sandy Bridge and Llano and falling demand for Atom has also led to an increase in the average price of sold CPU by 5%. Integrated graphics do not get customers for free, and it becomes more and more in sales. The share in the processors segment of Intel integrated graphics 84.8% market share for AMD - only 15.2%.
In the third quarter, revenue from sales of processors on the market as a whole grew by 12.2% over the previous quarter (to $ 10.7 million), and by 16.1% compared with the third quarter last year. Processors shipments grew by 6.7% for the quarter and by 5.2% over the same period last year.
According to IDC, in the third quarter, Intel got 80.2% market share . AMD had 19.7% of the market, VIA is satisfied by only 0.1% of the market. Compared with the second quarter of this year, Intel has managed to increase its share by 0.9% due to AMD (-0,7%) and VIA (-0,2%). In the third quarter last year, however, Intel controlled 80.4% of the market. AMD, as was the case with the statistics of Mercury Research, in this interval shows a positive trend, increasing its share from 19.2% to 19.7%.
Slice of the desktop market segment demonstrates Intel breakthrough in quarterly terms, - the share of this manufacturer has increased from 70.9% to 75.8%. A year earlier, Intel controlled 71.8% of the market. AMD has slipped in the third quarter from 28.9% to 24.1%. A year earlier, it controlled 27.8% of the desktop segment. VIA Company is now satisfied with just 0.1% market share of desktop processors.
In the mobile segment Intel has (82,3% of the market in Q3 2011, 84.4% quarter before, 85.9% in Q3 2010), but the dynamics of AMD here is positive. Quarter before the company took only 15.2% of the market, but now this figure has risen to 17.6%. In the third quarter last year, this characteristic does not exceed 13.7%.
We have to admit that AMD is losing ground in the server market: 4.9% last quarter, 5.5% quarter earlier, 6.3% in the third quarter of last year. Accordingly, Intel currently controls 95.1% of the segment during the year its position gradually strengthened.
