Intel plan to release a processor code-named Medfield, which is specially designed for smart phones and tablet PCs.
So far in this field, Intel could not achieve any significant success, and the company has close partnerships with manufacturers of first-tier smart phones. The situation is wrosened due to negative experiences with MID devices (mobile Internet devices), which were never properly implemented.
At the moment only Samsung company is ready to support Intel in the smart phone markete , which is working on a smart phone-based processor Medfield running Android 4.0. The device will be distributed through commercial network operator Sprint. Samsung will not concentrate on a single hardware platform.
Intel has diligently worked to improve SoC Atom, paying attention to power consumption of the silicon device. It is assumed that lower process technology from 32nm (Saltwell) to 22 nm (Silwermont), and then to 14 nm (Airmont), will make the consumption of these solutions less than 10 watts.
