In April last year, we learned that Intel is developing a new version of interface, Thunderbolt, which will transmit information on optical channels at up to 50 Gbit / s over a distance of 100 meters. It is expected that the interface will be implemented only in 2015. Even the current interface version allows to work with optical data transmission channels, but with the speed of copper conductors it is limited to 10 Gb / s and the distance to three feet.
Thunderbolt popularity may rise this year .
Associates reports that Intel does not intend to provide the next generation interface Thunderbolt before 2014.
