For XTreview staff:   Specs as published for the 8800 Ultra might well change as my uncle is working in nVIDIA as an engineer and he told me that they are working hard with TSMC & AIBs to make sure that they can overclock the 8800 Ultra at even higher than curently published..nVIDIA is looking for  Core at 700MHz & Shader at 2000MHz(2GHz)- with the 8800 Ultra..Memory Clock is said to stay at 2.20GHz(GDDR4)for the 8800 Ultra... if everything goes as planned nVIDIA will be releasing the 8800 Ultra as follows: Air-Cooling Design 90nm (tweaked to allow higher clocks) : 681 million transistors for the main GPU core: 72 million transistors for the NVI/0 chip (ramdac) 128 Stream Processors at 2.0 GHz Core clock at 700MHz Memory Clock at 2.20 GHz 384-bit/768MB GDDR4 Memories. 105.6 GB/s of Graphics Memory Bandwidth. Pure 768 Gigaflops of Shader procssing power (\"pure\" due to scalar design). MSRP at 549USD..(supplies will be good) if everything goes as planned the 8800Ultra will be released on April the 17/or May(togheter with 8950GX2).. Price for the 8800GTX will go down to 449USD Price for 8800GTS 640MB will go down to 299USD Price for 8800GTS 320MB will go down to 249USD Erik Larsson..

Wow... if that\'s true than 8800Ultra has great chanse against the Radeon X2900XTX... Hope nVIDIA will be able to overclock the 8800Ultra an allow high yields as well... for XTreview thanks for the publication but specs may well change until release date.. What \"90nm tweaked to allow higher clocks\" means?! I fear we\'ll have the same scenerio as with the 7800 512MB when due to it\'s higher clocks was very rare...but..I hope that nVIDIA will not repeat that mistake again with the 8800 Ultra..Hope that prices will indeed stay at 549USD as published. Maybe G80 Ultra is a 80nm chip,but that\'s very unlikely due to the \"8800\" monikor suggesting that it is still based on the same original 90nm G80 core as the 8800GTX.. But how higher clocks are possible?!It may well be that nVIDIA had tweaked the PCB and the GPU core seriously in some way to allow that?!It may well be..Maybe it has some serious cooling device with a huge fan or something and a whole new PCB...But those figures look quite probable to say the least..   James Peterson..NYC,USA

Well :-). Going from 575 MHz (Core Clockin 8800GTX) to 650 mhz in ultra version is not too hard to get. Nvidia will not risk going with 80nm CHip in (ultra ,GX2 ) version.As u already Know G80 is pretty complex. Most likely nvidia will go arround with better power and cooling system in The ultra version. All will depand in R600 release date and performance. 1-)if nvidia will get the time required to master the 80nm process in its low-end 86xx serie then it can use it in 8850GX2 and ultra . 2)But if R600 will be annouced in time (Let us recall 23-24 april).and its performance are semohow better (more than 20% in comparaison with 8800GTX).then here nvidia can forget about the power requirement of its card (90nm) and release them as fast as . But Most likely 8800Ultra will have 90nm chip with better (PCD), power system and cooling. I will keep u posted as soon as data update appear Edit : Check the  comment above  .
