Most hard disk 2.5 inches are made in the case thickness of 9.5 millimeters, but mobile computers are increasingly paying attention to the 7-mm model. For example, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies unit said of the 25 million shipped 2.5-inch hard disks 7 millimeters thick. Along with the positive news, Hitachi GST presented the hard drive Travelstar Z7K500. The compact drive enclosure, hide only one magnetic plate with a density of 630 gigabits per square inch (500 GB total capacity). HDD speed is 7200 rpm, the unit is equipped with 32MB cache and supports SATA 6 Gb / s. The highest claimed data transfer rate is 171 Mbytes / s, which is pretty fast for a 2.5-inch HDD in its class.  In addition to the high end 500 GB versions, Hitachi will sell 320 and 250 GB version. There are also versions with support for hardware-based encryption and designed for blade servers. Deliveries of Travelstar Z7K500 models will begin in March. Related Products : | ||
