The market of smartphones and tablets is growing rapidly, and Intel is trying to develop a cost-effective and compact solution with x86-compatible architecture, which could easily be used by manufacturers of smartphones.
In 2011 Intel was able to realize 181 million mobile processors, Apple has already released 176 million mobile processors. Experts say that this year Apple has all chances to become the largest manufacturer of mobile processors. Recall that Apple processors with ARM-architecture produced on 45 nm technology by Samsung. The latest generation of Apple's processor A5X was even larger than the dual-core Sandy Bridge.
In-Stat Specialists believes in the possibility of Apple notebooks based on own processors.
According to In-Stat, the ranking of the largest manufacturers of mobile processors after Intel and Apple are, in descending order of market share Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Samsung and AMD. The latter, unlike Intel, does not exclude the possibility of using processors with ARM-block architecture. Probably, this strategy in the long run prove more advantageous.
