TSMC this week officially admitted a lack of capacity to produce 28 nm products .
Associate reports that Qualcomm representatives expressed concern about lack of TSMC capacity, allowing to produce 28 nm products. In the third and fourth quarter this year, this problem can result in falling sales for Qualcomm.
Along the way, rumors were confirmed by a search for new contractors to produce 28 nm products. Qualcomm is not going to terminate the relationship with TSMC, but attempts to find additional contract manufacturers of 28 nm chips. Qualcomm Operating expenses in the relevant sector will increase. Although the company did not name potential new partners for the production of 28 nm chips there are not many alternatives: UMC, Samsung, or Globalfoundries.
