The line of motherboards series ROG Maximus V chipset based Intel Z77 is currently represented only  in product format Micro-ATX, Maximus V Gene.  At Computex, ASUS has brought an engineering sample motherboard Maximus V Extreme. Voltage regulator module has a 12-phase power configuration, and gets its power through the 8 - and 4-pin connector.  Like other ROG members, the motherboard have points to measure the voltage, LED POST-codes, power button, reset, and CMOS reset  , switch to PCI Express slots, and more. The main difference between the version of Formula Extreme is the use of PLX PEX8747 controller, doubling the number of available lines PCI Express 3.0.  The motherboard has four slots PCI Express 3.0 x16, which can operate in modes 16 x16 , 16z8z8 , 8x8x8x8.  There is also a slot PCI Express 2.0 x16 (electrical x4) and PCI Express x4 slot with an open slot. PLX PEX8613 chip doubles line PCI Express 2.0, which supports the chipset.  This will allow developers to use a large number of additional controllers: it is assumed that in the final sample, the number of SATA ports will reach 12 units, there is support for Thunderbolt and no less than 8-port USB 3.0.
