Early next year, Intel is going to stop the production of Sandy Bridge generation processors in the middle and upper price ranges, saving them only in the small market niche. Now the company announced the removal of Core i5-2550K (3.4 GHz), Core i5-2450P (3.2 GHz) and Core i5-2380P (3.1 GHz).
Orders for delivery of these processors are accepted until 22 February, 2013, the last batch in OEM-assembly will be shipped 9 August , deliveries of boxed processors will continue until depletion.
It is noteworthy that the three discontinued models do not include an integrated graphics. More precisely, they contain graphics core but disabled. This feature reduces the processor cost by an average of $ 7.
The presence of CPU Core i5-2550K (3.4 GHz) in Intel Price-list has no sense, since the more recent Core i5-3570 (3.4 GHz) with similar features costs $ 20 less, and access to a free multiplier on Sandy Bridge and graphic core can be obtained by paying $ 9 less for Core i5-2500K. Related Products :
