In June this year , AMD along with ARM Holdings organized a union to promote the idea of a mass heterogeneous or heterogeneous computing - Heterogeneous Systems Architecture (HSA). In addition to the organizers the first HSA supporters included companies such as Imagination Technologies, MediaTek and Texas Instruments. Intel, did not want to enter in the HSA, since it does not see the need to close combination of heterogeneous architectures, while AMD begins to work on the integration of their solutions core ARM.
Moreover, in the company's next processor microarchitecture - Steamroller - AMD Chief Technology hinted that the company expects the era of encompassing computing, which will be the base of client and server products based on the new microarchitecture. This is also part of the work to be dealt with HSA, as inclusive calculations imply transparent for the user to run applications on any hardware platform.
According to an official press release from HSA, the organization was joined by six companies: Apical, Arteris, MulticoreWare, Sonics, Symbio and Vivante Corporation. Some of them - sponsors, will donate part of technology and will take part in the development. The latter include Apical company (image processing), Arteris (integrated technology media interfaces), Sonics (SoC cloud destination) and Vivante (graphics for mobile and consumer devices). HSA is gradually gaining weight, which in the future will help him challenge the pure x86-compatible platform. Related Products :
