In November, the Tokyo District Court approved the purchase of American manufacturer Elpida by Micron, and the future of the deal now depends on the decisions of regulators and creditors. Yesterday, a press release of the company notified that the Fair Trade Commission of Japan (Japan Fair Trade Commission) also supported the association of producers.
According to the Japanese regulators, the transaction meets one of the mandatory requirements of antimonopoly legislation. Appropriate authorities USA, Czech Republic and Korea have expressed their positive opinion about the deal earlier.
However, Micron and Elpida has yet to win the support of antimonopoly authorities in other countries . It is assumed that all the bureaucratic procedures will be completed by the end of the first half of 2013.
