AMD hybrid processors , codenamed Kaveri, contains four 32-bit GDDR5 memory channel . Additional processors are equipped with a 128-bit memory controller, DDR3, but only one of them can be activated .
AMD document indicated that the allowable effective GDDR5 memory chips frequency is 3200-3400 MHz, with a 128-bit bus provides throughput of 51-54 GB / s. This is approximately twice the DDR3-1600 memory capacity . Though Kaveri will offer support for the regime up to DDR3-2500 GDDR5 memory will become the best choice because of its relatively low cost of high-speed chip DDR3 (from 1866 MHz and above).
The main disadvantage is the low density GDDR5 chips. In order to collect acceptable by today's standards, the amount of system memory to use, at least 16 chips 256 MB. Placing such a large number of elements greatly complicate the design of motherboards and is unlikely to make them more accessible.
Kaveri supports 16 lines PCI Express 3.0 interface for connecting discrete graphics solutions, and eight PCI Express 2.0 lines for general use .
