After the release of  core 2 Duo processors , AMD company  proved to be in  in hard price war with Intel. As result the price of dual core processors athlon 64 X2 6000+ was lowered . Currently the processor athlon 64 X2 6000+ can be purchased for $241. This is the only processor of this family, whose cost exceed $200. First , this the hottest processor athlon 64 X2 , its TDP level is equal to 125 W. In all other models athlon 64 X2 Socket AM2 the TDP value is equal or under 89 W. During September this year , the processor athlon 64 X2 6000+ will obtain more economical version with the level TDP not more than 89 W. Some associate considered that the processor athlon 64 X2 6000+ will be released on 65 nm technical process, but this will not happen. The core stepping  will remain as before F3, simply AMD will improve  the electrical and thermal characteristics. Confirmation of this news is found in the updated AMD technical documents , witch was published in June : the 89- watt version athlon 64 X2 6000+ is isolated with red color. As you see, this processor will have the lower power voltage (1.3-1.35 v against previous 1.35-1.4 v), current strengths in the transient states will be lowered, and temperature range will be enlarged from 63 to 70 degree Celsius. The processor marking in the form ADA6000IAA6CZ talk about the changed energy profile . At the end of the third quarter the version athlon 64 X2 6000+ (3.0 GHz) with TDP=125 W will be removed from production. The new processor version with TDP level  not more than 89 W will exist to the end of 2007, deliveries from the existing reserves will continue prior to the middle of 2008. Here is the reference about the second version athlon 64 FX-74 (3.0 GHz) with marking in the form ADAFX74GAADJ. The processor athlon 64 FX-74 has a marking ADAFX74GAADI. If we compare the thermal characteristics of those versions, then version with the suffix DJ possesses larger temperature range . This means that it heat less ; however, this advantage was not reflected on the TDP value . So, both processors are based on one stepping F3 and are released on 90 NM technology.   Related Products :
