Since VIA company ceased to be important player on chipsets desktop market . Recently we more frequently hear about VIA negotiations with Intel for the prolongation of chipsets production license for intel platform . VIA representatives periodically refute rumors about the curtailment of chipsets and processors production . According to the financial results of VIA activity in the first half-year ,the profit from sales fell to 35% in comparison with analogous period last year. In its problems VIA blames Intel, which in its tendency to recapture AMD market share launched a sharp competition and price war. As a result VIA sales income from processors and chipsets reached the historical minimum. In the second half-year VIA expects to repair its financial position due to the effect Windows vista. Furthermore, Via will presented new products: chipset with DDR- 3 support , SATA-300 DirectX 9/10, and also solution with high integration degree (system-on- chip). Associate also reported that VIA can be concentrated in the production of chipsets for its own processors (C7). New license for the release of chipsets for processors intel with 1333 MHz system bus, according to our sources, was not obtained.
