According to IDC agency , in the first quarter this year, Samsung has managed to bypass Nokia mobile phone market in Finland. The growth in sales of smartphones has allowed Korean manufacturer to occupy 36% of the Finnish market, Nokia is content with more modest 33%. For comparison, in 2010 the balance of power in the local market was different: Nokia owned 65% and Samsung controlled only 12% of the market.
The situation is changing in the field of innovation. At the beginning of next month, Samsung is about to open in Finland Research Center. Details about this function is not disclosed, but it is not the first company's use of local scientific and engineering capabilities. This month, Samsung announced the collaboration with VTT research center in the field of energy-saving technologies.
