Under current price war conditions , when it is not possible to recognize even the financial results of powerful opponent as positive, AMD company in its quarterly report attempts to isolate positive moments and to hide negative. We start from the positive tendencies. AMD was able to increase the processors sales capacities by 38% in comparison with the first quarter this year. Demand from the side of OEM- producers is raising and demonstrate positive future, although traditionally the second quarter is characterized by either sales stagnation or their decrease. Toshiba began to use AMD processors in its notebook, other computers producers enlarged the assortment of their product on the base of AMD processors . As a result it was possible to increase the processors deliveries capacities in the mobile segment by 82% in comparison with the second quarter last year. The sales price in server and mobile segments was stabilized, whereas in desktop segment it was reduced due to the price wars. Although AMD sold in the second quarter more processors, but profitability's of these operations could not cover the losses, which composed $600 mln. The gross profit grew from 31% to 34%, but this is insufficiently good in comparison with 57%, which AMD demonstrated in the second quarter last year. The gain capacities grew in second block by 12%. According to the evaluations of AMD financiers , the company have to get the following indices to avoid current crisis : the gross profit not lower than 40% and gain on the order of $2 billion ,  AMD expects to reach such indices only at the end of this year. AMD assert that in the second quarter it succeeded in returning a part of market share ( both in numerical expression and in capacities sales indices ) . The negative tendencies in AMD report  are connected not only with worsening in the financial state, but also with announcement delays of new products. AMD counts on gain from video card radeon HD 2xxx sales, which already had time to bring profit in the second quarter. Analogously AMD hopes to repair its financial position after the announcement of barcelona and Phenom processors . IN the second quarter AMD left with the reserves of the non-sold processors for sum of $30 mln. Good release level of suitable chip by Fab 36, in addition they completely passed to the release of 65 nm processors, the presence of heavy processors stocks , and the tendency to decrease expenditures for technological rearmament pushed slightly AMD to slow down the reconstruction rates of fab 30. The release of 90 nm processors on 200 mm plates at this factory will cease in the second half-year. AMD is assembled to rescue from sale of old equipment not less than $800 mln. In addition AMD do not reject the idea about the reconstruction of new factory in USA ,  but the final solution can allow this only during the period up to the middle of 2009. On the following week AMD will meet with analysts and will divide its future plans with them. Related Products :
