In early August, will end the protracted process of merger Micron and Elpida. The total share of Micron-Elpida DRAM chips on the market will be comparable to SK Hynix, the second-largest producer of memory in the world. After absorbing Elpida company Micron will strengthen its position in the mobile segment of memory.
Micron-Elpida will have three manufacturing factory in Asia. It's subsidiary company Inotera Memories and Rexchip Electronics, capable together to produce about 210 thousand 300mm wafers per month, and the factory in Hiroshima, the thickness of which is estimated at 100-120 thousand plates of similar size. Inotera and Rexchip will focus on the production of DRAM chips for use in server solutions, and mobile devices, the Japanese factory would be exclusively mobile memory.
Micron also owns a factory in Singapore. Its production capacity will be allocated to the production of memory chips NAND.
