Following processors generation intel itanium 2 will be released soon . New designation code montvale is the dual core solution. These processors, as it was communicated, will arrive as change to similar processors on core montecito series 9000. These processors are positioned by intel company as solutions for fulfilling mission critical (MC) tasks, in which will be counted 512-1024 processor cores. In comparison with previous series, in Itanium 2 9100-series changes are not very large . In these processors will appear the support to technology demand based switching (DBS) in Enhanced intel speedstep technology. This will allow new processors to economize more energy . DBS support will be added in these models: Itanium 2 9140N, 9140M, 9150N and 9150M. The dual core solutions series 9100 2 will have 104- W TDP. Furthermore, difference with series 9000 is the support of some
models to higher system bus speed 667 MHz against 533- MHz FSB. In addition to Itanium 2 9100 , there will be the processor 9110N. This is the single core solution , equipped with 12- mb cache L3 and being the most accessible.
