According to some rumors , even though Intel company has denied information about the intention to stop the release of Itanium processors giving priority to Xeon. Oracle's court some time ago was sentenced to force development of software for HP, using Itanium processors. It seems that the platform has revived artificially, although it still has a decent consumer audience.
on Intel website was published ( 31 January), that the development of a common platform for Xeon and Itanium was postponed indefinitely. Previously it was thought that Kittson will offer a unified processors platform , which will be released on 22-nm technology in 2014. However, Intel now not only does not want to supply the Itanium and Xeon compatibility at the motherboards level , but also refuses to transfer Kittson on 22-nm technology. Now processors with this symbol will be released on 32-nm technology, and its characteristics are unlikely to be very different from the current generation Poulson processors . On the other hand, Kittson processors will be compatible with motherboard, which employ Itanium processor 9300 and 9500 series. Related Products :
