As is known , AMD company already published the benchmarks results of barcelona processors with 2.6 GHz frequency AND now AMD prepare the benchmark result obtained with the same processors but at 2.0 GHz frequency . Precisely, at this frequency will be released the first processors in barcelona family , and only in the fourth quarter they will reach the 2.5 GHz, after reching the TDP value over 120 W.

AMD demonstrated a new slide, which compares the speed of the four core barcelona processor with 2.0 GHz frequency and the speed of four core processor xeon e5345 with 2.33 GHz frequency . In comparison with the participated two-processor systems, characterized by 8 memory modules, controlled by SUSE Linux enterprise server 10 operating system . Barcelona processors have TDP not more than 95 W, for xeon e5345 processors was indicated the value TDP not more than 80 W, but AMD recommend to add to this value the level of energy consumption from the memory controller and the completely buffered modules FB-DIMM.

In the test sPECfp_rate 2006 , the system on base of barcelona processors was up to 25% faster .

Intel company already have xeon processors with four core and 2.66 GHz frequency , and with passage on 45 nm technology the frequency of the corresponding processors will grow up to 3.16 GHz. Thus, Intel can outperform AMD due to its high frequency, without losing in the energy efficiency. Intel is going to bring the portion of 45 nm processors in the server segment to 45% already in the second quarter 2008.

AMD in the second quarter 2008 will release barcelona processors with 2.6 GHz frequency . However, AMD feels the advantage in the server segment based on relationship performance and required power.
