Now there are no doubts, that the processor athlon 64 X2 6400+ (3.2 GHz) with black box will be released on following Monday. The task of this processor is simple: to attract users attention until the announcement of phenom generation processors , and at the same time to attempt to compete with the processors core 2 Duo e6750 (2.66 GHz) and Core 2 Duo e6850 (3.0 GHz). Associate took the processor athlon 64 X2 6400+, and they compared its speed level with core 2 Duo e6750 (2.66 GHz) and Core 2 Duo e6850 (3.0 GHz) in a number of standard tests. The tray prices are hardly an accurate measure of price right now. As of the time I post this the E6750 is $211.99, a far cry from the $183 tray price. The E6850 is $329.99, which is even further from the $266 tray price. The X2 6000 is $169.99, which is LOWER than the tray price of $178. I expect too that the X2 6400 will also be lower than the tray price. This will put the price of the 6400 VERY close to that of the E6750\'s real price (that is, the actual price you can by one for). All these prices are from newegg.com btw. It would seem to me then that this new chip is priced exactly where is should be.

well it is nice we finaly hear some good news back from the AMD camp :). still this processor dous not own the market but the margin on it should be good enough to give amd a piece of money so they can continue to exist i hope. until there new generation CPU\'s hopefully amd will keep up bringing out some faster athlon X2 chips. atleast the EE version of the 6000+ isn\'t wrong for its price performance. but if amd whants to make some money for there X2 chips until there new gen is out it would might be wise if they sold off all the slower chips and would focus there production on mass 6000+ 6400+ chips. and then lower the price to a nice point so they can give intel some real competition that would might give them a bit of margin for this quarter until the next gen is ready

	This processor should overclock as good as A64 x2 6000+ a 3.5-3.6 should be doable with air cooling.

i have a 6400 x2 and ive goten it to go to 3.5 with air. but the front side buss goes down to 750-800 ish. as i sit now its a 3360.18 mhz 1050.05 mhz fsb with 210.1 x 16 multipier. i do have a huge zalman fan on it and it usually hits 43C full load on both cores :). cpu idles 32C and system temp is 38C < i dont know if my dual hd 2600xt video cards make any difference with system temp.sometimes it shoots up to 3421mhz and 1060 fbs. i use asus ai booster for my overclocking with a asus crossfire mobo ati 3200 chipset

currently have this chip at 1.55 volts 219fsb with 16x multiplyer.... 3.5 ghz.... had to downclock the ram its running at 700+ mhz from 800 stock.....at full load for an hour first core 57c and second core 51c average\'s... nice zalman air cooler... and those temps are with NO case fans and side pannel open.... just baught the chip and researched overclocking... going to setup case fans now it should lower temps a bit

	Keep in mind this is coming from an owner of the 6400 x2. Its head room for overclocking is about non existent. Every one of those intels can overclock like crazy due to being 65 nm compared to AMDS 90!! Intels even got 45 nm procs now. c\'mon AMD I bought this CPU ONLY becuaes i paid like 20 bucks for a M2N-e Asus board :)
