Yesterday we talked about the development of non-contact touch interface based on infrared sensors. Another option may be considered a non-contact interface system based on ultrasonic location. Bats have mastered the orientation of reflected ultrasound in the process of evolution. Smartphones acquire similar properties as needed, because a number of operations to perform faster with a simple gesture.
Ultrasonic contactless interface promotes Norwegian company Elliptic Labs. After a few days at CES 2014 the company will demonstrate a set of developers by which it will be possible to develop compatible applications for a wide range of games and applications. Adjust the volume, launch specific applications, the movement of objects - all this can be tied to specific gestures near the work plane of the screen.
Elliptic Labs system is built on an embedded device ultrasonic speakers and microphones, MEMS-operating at a frequency of about 20 kHz. Working zone covers the area from the screen plane with 180 degrees and extends up to one meter away. Gestures can be right, left and above the screen, tying zone to specific commands. Reflected at the hands of the ultrasonic signal is captured by microphones and estimated delay.
It is reported that ultrasound-based interface software Elliptic Labs has already appeared in some models of smartphones. They use the speakers and microphones Murata's Wolfson. Related Products :
