The first of May, AMD celebrated the anniversary - 45 years since the foundation in 1969. The company has entered a midlife crisis : factories for sale , transition to work with custom APU and general roughness of processors development . 
The main problem lies in the company's total lack of funds. In 1996 AMD company acquired NexGen, development of which subsequently appeared Nx series processors and, ultimately, a series of K6 with Socket 7 platform. K7 processors have consolidated the success of the AMD processors on the market, then transformed into a platform Slot A. Finally, appeared after this K8 processors.
Of course, those days are gone. PC market began to experience difficulties (2008 crisis!).
